Do we accept your Insurance?

Some of our therapists are not in network with insurance. All payments are due in full at the time of each session.  Although we may not accept your insurance, clients have access to a private portal where you can generate monthly super-bills to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. This means that your insurance company will not send payment directly to CAACOT for the sessions that you attend with us but you may be able to receive reimbursement using your “Out-of-Network” benefits.

While our agency does offer couples counseling services, availability varies depending on therapist. Please note that insurance does NOT usually cover the costs associated with couples counseling and you should be prepared to pay for this service out of pocket. Verification of insurance benefits will be required before first appointment.

Maintaining Confidentiality - Not taking insurance allows support and services to be provided to clients that maintain confidentiality. When a client decides to enter into a counseling relationship they do so with the understanding that everything shared between them and the therapist is confidential. When an insurance company is involved, that confidentiality is difficult to maintain as insurance companies require information of a confidential nature including diagnosis and treatment plans as well as symptoms and behavior related to diagnosis. The information shared with insurance companies goes into a clients permanent medical record which can limit their ability to control medical information.

Intern level individuals are not available to accept insurance. Should you be interested in scheduling an appointment with an Intern we can assist you with a discounted rate if needed.

Good Faith Estimate

Beginning 1/1/22 under sec 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, behavioral healthcare providers and facilities are required to to notify individuals whom aren’t enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal healthcare program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally or in writing of their ability, upon request or time of scheduling healthcare items or services, to receive a ‘Good Faith Estimate’ (GFE) of expected yearly charges.

If you meet this criteria, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) to inform you of costs of services. Under this new law, behavioral healthcare providers are required to provide clients not using insurance or don’t have insurance an estimate of a bill for services.

* This healthcare provider will give you a GFE in writing at least one business day before your scheduled appointment.

* If you receive a bill for $400 more than your GFE, you have the right to dispute this bill (within 120 days of receiving the original bill).

* Please take a picture of your GFE or save a copy. If you’d like to learn more about your rights associated with GFEs, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
